A trade name is simply the official name under which a business conducts its activities. A trademark on the other hand is used to not only protect your trade name but also symbols, logos and slogans.

  • A trademark may be a word, name, symbol, device or any combination, used or intended to be used to identify and distinguish the goods and services of one seller or provider from those of others.
  • If the trade name is a Qatari trademark, the investor must submit a trademark franchise contract or a usufruct letter.
  • In case the trade name is a non-Qatari trademark, the Embassy of Qatar in the country of origin and Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs must attest the documents.
