Commercial representative offices are prohibited from directly contacting consumers.

A commercial representative office is prohibited from importing and exporting products except for commercial samples of the products produced by the entity it represents for promotion purposes.

Foreign companies and institutions operating in commerce, industry and services may open commercial representative offices in Qatar.

  • Fill out the application form entering the required information (The application is available on the website of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry).
  • Attach the following documents:
    • Copy of the foreign company’s commercial registration and memorandum of association (if applicable).
    • Foreign company or institution’s decision to open an office in Qatar.
    • Power of attorney from the foreign company or institution to the office’s director.
    • Declaration from the company or institution abroad assuming responsibility for the work carried out by the office in the State of Qatar.
    • Power of attorney or letter from the foreign company or institution authorizing its legal representative in Qatar to terminate the proceedings.
    • Proof of identity of the director.
    • Certificate of the product trademark.
  • Make sure documents issued outside Qatar are duly certified.

Representative offices are those offices established in Qatar and protect the interests of companies and institutions whose headquarters is based outside Qatar.

A fee of QR5000 must be paid in addition to the fees specified by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar.

  • To contact customers to introduce the products and services of the foreign companies and institutions they represent, in addition to expanding the distribution and marketing of these products.
  • To contact exporters and sellers of raw material and semi-manufactured goods required by the entities they represent, besides eliminating the obstacles hindering speedy delivery of such products.
  • To report to the entities they represent complaints about their products, and eliminate obstacles facing the distribution of these products.

The registration of the commercial representative office is renewed within the 30 days preceding the end of the registration period.
